NVIDIA, International Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) leader, to enter rural Indian web-based education field

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan:

International Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) leader NVIDIA is set to enter the Indian education field. It will contribute to the central government-backed Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) through its high performance computing products, which would be used in web-enabled IT education tools in classrooms to enhance quality of learning.

"Enhancing web-based education is the key to growth of education. More so in rural areas. This is relevant because broadband network has already entered and 3G network is going to enter the Indian market. Multimedia is the most effective IT tool for teaching now, especially use of video on the Internet," Director - Pune Development Centre and Chief Mentor, NVIDIA, Commodore Anand Khandekar (retd) told Sakaal Times.

In these circumstances, the need is for telecom technology that would allow a broader width of the network to allow lot more multimedia content through Internet.

"Video of eminent teachers talking about their subjects could be one of the drivers of e-classroom concept. Since quality teachers can't go to rural areas, we can have quality teaching being imparted live on the Internet using attractive tools like multimedia. There was no device earlier to receive the content on the IT equipment. Now it is there," Commodore Khandekar said. Read More
