Day-long strike by information technology and business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) car operators on Tuesday affects the operations partially

There are more than 35 prominent IT-BPOs in Pune, which employ almost 95,000 professionals.Firms like Infosys, KPIT Cummins, Wipro, Zensar Technologies, Mphasis, Axa and WNS have operations in the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad belts and use between 6,000 and 8,000 cabs and jeeps to ferry staffers daily.

The Maharashtra Call Centre Drivers' and Owners' Association (MCCDOA) had called the strike, demanding immediate clearance of dues worth Rs 1 crore from various transport vendors appointed by BPOs to ferry staffers.
